 "Great for the traveler" 2009-08-22
By Christopher G. Mayers (Fort Belvoir, VA United States)
This little laptop has been with me for about 6 months now. I really have enjoyed the little computer. It has been my lifeline during my travels overseas. I have taken it to London, Seoul, Dubai, Munich, and all over the US. My main reason for liking the netbook is its portability. It is so easy to take a little netbook out with my work issued computer (big old HP). This netbook is great when you are streaming from the web; both music and movies. Playback isn't that great but lowering the size helps. Typing isn't too bad, but I am upgrading to the acer 11.6 in model. Acer has addressed issues that I was wanting to see in a netbook. This guy will go to my son and is a good back up for the main computer. My biggest complaint is that the internet connection is inconsistent at best. Every now and then the wifi turns off. I have tried the power-saver solution but it didn't fully solve the problem. I have a old linksys usb adapter (it is about half the size of the netbook)...crazy but it works. All in all I would and have recommended this product others and would buy again myself.

 "Small and light" 2009-08-14
By Arturo Soto Villalobos (Mexico)
I use the Acer Aspire One for presentations outside my office. The Aspire is perfect for the job; I can also access my desktop computer using the Internet so I always have the information I need with me.

Be careful with the bag. Be sure it has an extra place for cable and mouse.

"Not garbage but close to it." 2009-08-03
By Deimos (Alberta)
Runs most programs ok with XP nothing impressive, but the power supply and charger connector is just garbage and stays loose in the connector port causing it to zone in and out and not charge properly. Once you unplug it it shuts off, no battery life to speak off. Net books suck anyway, most laptops are now are no different to carry around and at least then you have full performance, battery life and screen size eg. Macbook Pro/Air.

 "soooo disappointed" 2009-07-31
By J. Herling
I had high hopes for this, after I researched the Acer Aspire on multiple websites. I wanted something small for me to take with me on vacations, solely for the purpose of keeping in touch and being able to get on the internet and check on tourist sites, restaurants, attractions, etc.. So the first week I had it, I set up my browser preferences, email, etc. - packed it in my suitcase and was quite pleased with my choice. At the hotel, within a couple hours, I got the blue screen of death flashed by with a page full of text and shut down. I gave it a cooling down period, but it would not restart - - - I just had a black screen. The next day, it booted up, seemed fine, but then again, the old BSOD and nothing! Repeat scenario several times. After vacation, I put the Acer away until 6 weeks later, I went on another vacation. Checked out the Acer at home, and everything seemed fine. Arrived at hotel - - - same story as last time!!! (I think my Acer is allergic to hotels!!!)

This time, when I got home, I emailed Acer tech support. They were very responsive, and gave me several steps to go through, things to test. So by email they tell me to mail in the netbook, but they didn't give me the address! So I called Acer, HE wants me to do each of those tests, try this, try that, and after a lot of pushing, FINALLY got the address to mail it in for service.

A week later, I had it back, and it worked fine - - they said they upgraded the BIOS. Everything looked good. UNTIL I went on vacation again - - - you KNOW what happened - - - - - it worked a couple hours, then BSOD. I never could get it back up again, after 5 days of trying.

So now, I'm looking at taking a glass of wine with a couple prozac before I get on the phone with Acer again.

Maybe I've got a lemon.
